How it works

From pageview to payout, in six steps.

Relay sits between publishers with high-intent readers and advertisers who want to reach them. Here's exactly what happens on every page, every click, every dollar.

01
The reader

Someone opens an article with buying intent

A reader lands on a publisher page: "best trail running shoes," a mattress comparison, a camera review. They came to make a decision. This is the moment every advertiser wants and almost none can find.

02
The publisher

The page asks Relay for an offer

The publisher added our script tag once. As the article loads, the Relay unit quietly requests an offer for this specific page, after the content renders, so nothing shifts and nothing blocks.

03
Relay

The engine matches context to campaign

Relay reads the page context and picks the best-fitting advertiser offer: right category, right audience, best rate. No cookies, no cross-site tracking. The article itself is the targeting signal.

04
The reader

A relevant offer, clearly labeled

The reader sees a Slidethrough card or Smart Link that actually relates to what they're reading, marked sponsored. If it's useful, they click. If not, they scroll past. No pop-up, no chase.

05
Relay

Every click is tracked end to end

The click routes through Relay's tracking layer to the advertiser's site. When a sale or signup happens, the advertiser's system confirms it back to us with a server-to-server postback.

06
Everyone

Settlement on real performance

The advertiser is billed for the click or the confirmed conversion, nothing else. The publisher earns their revenue share. Both sides see the same numbers in their dashboards.

Questions

The things people ask first.

Do you use third-party cookies?

No. Matching is contextual, based on the page content, and conversion tracking runs on first-party click IDs and server-to-server postbacks. The model keeps working as browsers phase out third-party cookies.

How do publishers get paid?

Publishers earn a revenue share on the clicks and conversions their placements generate, paid out monthly. Earnings are broken down per page, unit, and offer in the publisher dashboard.

How are advertisers billed?

Per click (CPC) or per confirmed action (CPA), agreed per campaign. There are no impression fees and no minimum spend to start.

What does integration require from a publisher?

One async script tag, added once. Placement, configuration, and tuning all happen from the Relay dashboard, with no code changes after that.

Who can join the platform?

Publishers with original content and a genuine audience; advertisers with a real product and a working funnel. Every application on both sides is reviewed by a person.
